Our members met in July 2022 and awarded SARSAS (Somerset and Avon Rape and Sexual Abuse Support) our main grant of £15,000. We were pleased to award grants of £4,000 to the other two charities:
Voices and Creativity Works.

SARSAS were granted £15,000 towards their Survivor Voice Project. This supported women in and around Bath who have experienced sexual violence, aiding their recovery, and building and empowering a supportive community of survivors. The project offered four six-week courses of creative activities, each for a group of up to 10 survivors. They engaged in activities such as art, writing and creating animation. These activities enabled survivors to explore feelings, either visually or verbally, and encouraged creative self-expression in an easeful, non-judgemental space. These creative processes can relieve emotional distress, connect survivors, and offer mutual hope. Courses were co-designed and developed with survivors, co-led by a SARSAS trauma-informed professional and a survivor-leader, and held at Bath Voices Hub and other Bath locations.

We welcomed SARSAS back to our 2023 Awards Evening, where they told us what they had achieved.
