Meet Deborah

I am delighted to be a new member of Bath Women’s Fund. I moved to Bath ten months ago after twenty-five years in London. Whilst I love our capital and still have clients there, there is something magical about coming back to Bath.

The move here has been extremely restorative. It was a big move for me in many ways, yet whilst it is still ‘early days’, I have been surprised and delighted at the warmth of the welcome.

My career has been in campaign marketing and London is in my bones. I spent my first years there promoting the creative industries and then became Head of International Marketing for London, promoting the capital as a centre of excellence for inward investment, tourism, education and creativity. Part of this role was planning London’s presence in Beijing for the 2008 Olympics - so lots of trips to China!.

This then led to one of my most challenging (and rewarding) roles as Producer of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Torch Relays. One of the UK’s largest pubic engagement campaigns and four years traversing every inch of the British Isles - I clearly remember the day we visited the Royal Crescent! Other high profile marketing roles followed and I have been fortunate to be able to travel extensively as part of my work.

I set up my own consultancy practice eight years ago. I focus on creating and delivering purpose driven marketing campaigns and clients have included BBC Children in Need, the Design Council and the Global Goals. I also do Trustee work and have recently completed a five year term with SeeAbility, formerly the Royal School for the Blind. Having my own company has given me the freedom to get my work / life balance on a more even keel and the move to Bath has been a big part of that.

When I am not working - or walking - I am a keen gardener, having completed an RHS Planning and Design Course. Being up to my knees in mud is still my proper happy place.
