Meet Annie
Tell us a bit about yourself
I live in Bath with my husband, two adult sons and two Labradors! I’ve come and gone, and returned a lot over the years, having also spent time living in New Zealand, Cambodia and Malaysia - and Taunton! My background is in the tech sector and over the last ten years shifting my focus specifically on how to support charities to embed technology into their organisations.
I’m a founder of Tech4Good South West, a platform and community that connects organisations -from nonprofits to startups and the wider technology sector to use technology in meaningful, ethical and impactful ways. One of our very local projects is the Bath Digital Divide Collective, focused on addressing the digital divide in Bath & North East Somerset.
My passion project is The Bath 5k Map focused on wellbeing and mental health, fundraising for local charities, Mentoring Plus and Off the Record providing support to young people across our community. The project is also deeply rooted in my love of the outdoors, always finding new spots to explore and discover in and around Bath.
What inspired you to join Bath Women's Fund?
I was at the launch event for the Bath Women’s Fund in 2018 and became a founding member. Such a brilliant idea to come together and support women and girls here in Bath by pooling our resources, networks and energy. I can’t believe how much we are now able to give away in grants, it is an inspiring model.
What are the issues that you are most passionate about?
I care deeply about digital skills and access to technology - I really want the South West to lead the way in action around this, and to see more thriving tech businesses supporting local communities and charities. I’m on a mission!!
What would you be most interested in learning about as a Bath Women's Fund member?
I’m just always curious about what people and organisations are doing, sharing stories and interesting work. So really more of what Bath Women's Fund are already doing! I’d also love to learn more about what long-term impact looks like for women and girls in our community - and how we / organisations can work together to support that in practical, sustainable ways.
What is your favourite place/thing to do in and around Bath?
I love being outside - walking the dogs, running but also swimming - early mornings at Monkton Farleigh Swimming Club or heading out to Vobster Quay. I also love everything Bath has to offer with festivals, theatre, music and amazing coffee - I feel so lucky to live here. And right now, a martini at The Hideout is hard to beat!
