Meet Natalie

Tell us a bit about yourself
I first got to know Bath through my now-husband who had studied in the city and moved back soon after we first met so I was a part-time resident for a period of time. I'm now part of the 'out of B&NES' group, living as we do in Marlborough, so it's great to return regularly.
I love being active in the outdoors, whether that's hiking, running, camping or sailing, so particularly enjoy the outdoor potluck events.

I work for the Youth Adventure Trust (YAT) as a fundraiser, so get to combine that passion with giving opportunities to young people who wouldn't otherwise experience the power of the outdoors on their self-esteem, confidence and resilience.
As well as running away to sea as a volunteer with sailing charities, which originally inspired my career into the charity and youth development sector, I'm also a trustee with Whirlwind Charitable Trust, a grant-making trust where I bring my hands-on charity sailing experience to decision making. I'm also a volunteer on the Bath Women's Fund Events Group.

What inspired you to join Bath Women's Fund?
I wanted to join Bath Women's Fund because I'm inspired by the power of collective giving - our grants go further and have even greater impact than if each of us donated individually.

What are the issues that you are most passionate about?
I'm most passionate abo
ut youth development and seeing young people realise that they can achieve more than they first think. The fact that YAT does this using adventurous outdoor activities is the icing on the cake for me! Seeing nervous and shy young people transform into caring, confident leaders never gets old, no matter how many times I see it at our camps and activity days.

What would you be most interested in learning about as a Bath Women's Fund member?
I'm most interested in learning how local charities supporting women and girls can collaborate and deliver projects in new and different ways. I also enjoy meeting other members and learning more about their connection with the city and the charities that Bath Women's Fund supports.

What is your favourite place/thing to do in and around Bath?
I enjoy walking around the city as there's always so much beautiful architecture to see, especially when you look upwards. Sadly though, I've not yet made it along to a Bath Women's Fund walk as I've usually been taking part in a running event - I'm deliberately not using the term 'racing' as I am in no way a speedy runner! Food is also a great joy so I enjoy visiting our favourite tapas, curry or Thai restaurants.
